blog tattoos

1)Caption:
I have been rejacted in many job interviews, even before they know about my vast expirience

2) Picture

3) What you lermnt in class

I lernt that tattos can be special for everybody

4) Paragraph 1 (discrimination)
Source: www.vutrailblazer.info
This discrimination is centred on employers or applicants with body modifications such as tattoos.

5) Paragraph 2
Source: www.mookychick.co.uk
Many people are apprenhisive about getting their first tattoo.

*5) My opinion
It all depends on my family my ansestors, if forced to continue the tradition or if I can  do what I want, and then if a person try to discriminate me I will ignore, turn around and leave. I have a good opinion of this because  as far as I know the traditions do not break and would be very bad break.

6) three important ideas

    • First I talk about my caption and what are the meaning of this picture
    • Then explain the discrimination of tattoos
    • Finally that the more important thing is what my family say.

opinion piece "tattoos"

positive statements
"In a point of view an art"

In my opinion tattoos have nothing wrong. The only serious thing is that they can't be removed. Some peoples do it for tradition but for me it would be like art.

I like people who get tattoos of their ancestors. For me, there is no purpose to be for a special occasion the tattoo in fact it would only be for me as an tattoo artiste display.

If I had a tatto it would show as if it were an artiste display and showing it would go to the beach but for work I would wear long sleeves.

From another point of view tattoo art may be better to beseen as fashon and that would be more attractive.

I have seen those tattoos that I mentseneed before that for me were art, but  for other people those tattoos were vandalism, my view of that is that it is wrong.

The younger generations are the only one that think, that tattoos accept cultured individuals but it is a slow proccess.

There are a few exeptions. In some segments of music and art, but in most cases tattoos tust do not help a person to get a job.

iditarod race event

Iditarod History

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race officially started in 1973, but the trail itself and the use of dog teams as a mode of transportation has a long and storied past. In the 1920s for example, newly arrived settlers looking for gold used dog teams in the winter to travel along the historic Iditarod Trail and into the gold fields.
In 1925, the same Iditarod Trail was used to move medicine from Nenana to Nome after an outbreak of diphtheria threatened the lives of nearly everyone in the small, remote Alaskan town. The journey was nearly 700 miles (1,127 km) through incredibly harsh terrain, but showed how reliable and strong dog teams were. Dogs were also used to deliver mail and carry other supplies to the many isolated areas of Alaska during this time and many years later.
Throughout the years however, technological advances led to the replacement of sled dog teams by airplanes in some cases and finally, snow mobiles. In an effort to recognize the long history and tradition of dog sledding in Alaska, Dorothy G. Page, chairman of the Wasilia-Knik Centennial helped set up a short race on the Iditarod Trail in 1967 with musher Joe Redington, Sr. to celebrate Alaska's Centennial Year. The success of that race led to another one in 1969 and the development of the longer Iditarod that is famous today.
The original goal of the race was for it to end in Iditarod, an Alaskan ghost town, but after the United States Army reopened that area for its own use, it was decided that the race would go all the way to Nome, making the final race approximately 1,000 miles (1,610 km) long.

alaska dog sled race

History
The World was Changing…
Original document by Don Bowers, Edited 2012
Even after the advent of the airplane, dog teams continued to be widely used for local transportation and day-to-day work, particularly in Native villages. Mushers and their teams played important but little remembered roles in World War II in Alaska, particularly in helping the famous Eskimo Scouts patrol the vast winter wilderness of western Alaska.
After the war, short and medium distance freight teams were still common in many areas of Alaska even when President Kennedy announced that the United States would put a man on the moon. During the 1960′s, however, it was not space travel but the advent of the “iron dog” (or snowmachine or snowmobile) that resulted in the mass abandonment of dog teams across the state and loss of much mushing lore.
In 1964, the Wasilla-Knik Centennial Committee was formed to look into historical events in Alaska, specifically the Mananuska-Susitna Valley, over the past century. 1967 marked the 100th anniversary of Alaska being a U.S. Territory after being purchased from Russia.  Dorothy Page, chairman of this committee, conceived the idea of a sled dog race over the historically significant Iditarod Trail.  Joe Redington Sr. was her first real support for such a race.  Joe and his wife Vi had deep historical interests in the Iditarod Trail since the mid-1950′s and felt this centennial race would help in their quest to preserve the historic gold rush and mail route and get it recognized nationally.  The Redingtons and Pages joined forces.  Dorothy poured her heart and soul into research as a historian and Joe Redington worked non-stop to put together a new sprint sled dog race.
With much volunteer labor (the start of a fundamental Iditarod tradition), the first part of the trail was cleared, including nine miles of the Iditarod Trail.  The two heat, 56 mile Centennial race between Knik and Big Lake was held in 1967 and 1969.  Then, interest in the race was lost.  However, Joe Redington never lost interest, instead his vision grew into a never conceived of before long-distance race.  Countless hours of discussions with fellow mushers followed.  Two of these mushers were teachers, Tom Johnson and Gleo Hyuck.  These three men spirited this first-ever, long-distance race into reality and in 1973 a new race was born.  The U.S. Army helped clear portions of the trail and with the support of the Nome Kennel Club (Alaska’s earliest, founded in 1907), the race went all the way to Nome for the first time. Even so, the mushers still had to break much of their own trail and take care of their own supplies.  The winner of the first Iditarod was Dick Wilmarth, taking almost three weeks to reach Nome.
LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01
Redington had two reasons for organizing the long-distance Iditarod Race:  to save the sled dog culture and Alaskan huskies, which were being phased out of existence due to the introduction of snowmobiles in Alaska; and to preserve the historical Iditarod Trail between Seward and Nome.  To promote both goals, Redington asked Dorothy Page to be the editor of an Iditarod  Annual.  Her enthusiasm, drive, and love of history opened the world’s eyes to the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race®.
The race is really a reconstruction of the freight route to Nome and commemorates the part that sled dogs played in the settlement of Alaska. The mushers travel from checkpoint to checkpoint much as the freight mushers did eighty years ago—although some modern dog drivers like Doug Swingley, Martin Buser, Jeff King, Susan Butcher, and Rick Swenson move at a pace that would have been incomprehensible to their old-time counterparts, making the trip to Nome in under ten days.
Since 1973, the race has grown every year despite financial ups and downs. The Iditarod has become so well-known that the best mushers now receive thousands of dollars a year from corporate sponsors. Dog mushing has recovered to become a north-country mania in the winter, and some people now make comfortable livings from their sled-dog kennels.

HOW TO CURE THE SNORING?

Traditional medicine is the best cure of snoring because it has machines, and operations to cure, then I will explain the names of the machines, traditional is safer than alternative for many things.

Well the snoring is a case very common in the world, some peoples snore because they have  nasal congestion or the respiratory structures in the pharyngeal tube crash and emit the snoring.

For me alternative medicine is inefficient because the magnets, leaves or tea do not serve to remove the snoring.
One thing that I like is the machines, for example the cpap machine I consider, if I'm not mistaken it is better than the ubula operation .
An other opinion to be cured that in alternative medicine, does not occur is that they can measure the periods of the time to heal, and they implement the use of new technology on their treatments.

The traditional medicine is the best why? Becose it is effective and solves the problems very fast, the people relover faster, and that's why doctors use it, and do not use the alternative because the treatament is so slow.

The last opinion of the traditional cure for snoring is that more than anything the solution is with mechanical methods, and this is my opinion piece, so the better medicine is traditional.

Comulative project

"Snoring"

1) Phases:

1.- What are the characteristics of this illness or upheaval?

Snoring is the vibration of the respiratory structures that occurs during the sleep. The result is an annoying sound that disturbs the sleep.

This illness can bring you many malignant effects that affect your organism, not only in the mental, but also in the physical part.

When the structures of the respiratory system crash together they vibrate and produce the snoring.

The causes of this illness in the most of people are not yet known, but some possibilities are:
  • Being overweight.
  • Blocking nose.
  • Nasal congestion.
Sometimes, snoring can produce a disorder in the sleep name "sleep apnea", this means that the person that suffers from snoring has periods of not breathing.

2.- Why does it occur?

As I said in the previous question, snoring is produced by the vibration of the respiratory structures, this  brings many consequences that can produce malignant effects in the organism. It is not only annoying for the person, but also for the people who are around that person. As a result, snoring brings, sleeping problems and respiratory problems.

This illness provokes mental and physical problems, the things that happen to you are:

In the physical part:
  • High blood pressure.
  • Heart problems.
In the mental part:
  • Stress.
  • Headache.

3.- What types of treatment or therapy can a patient use? How long do they take? What are their pros and cons?

The different treatments oriented to overcome the snoring, depend of its complexity on its magnitude. These treatments can be classified in the following way:

  • Self - care
Try to control or eliminate the determinant causes of this illness. You do not have to be overweight, dine too late and preventing fat food, drink alcohol and caffeine, smoke before sleep, sleep with uncomfortable clothes, take naps, sleep with the radio, television or computer on.

If the person chooses this treatment there are little chances to be cured, for this reason there is not a certain time to heal.

  • Pharmacological
They refer to the use of drugs.

With this type of treatment, the time of healing is not determined.
  • Surgery
Operation of the respiratory structures to correct the problem that does not work correctly at bedtime.

With this treatment, the person recovers well. As it is a surgery, the results you can be noticed very fast.
  • Mechanical support
They refers to the use of a machine wich is known machine CPAP, used for correct the respiratory problems produced in the upper airways.

With this treatment, you can prevent the snoring, because this machine help to you to respire well. The period of time that you have to use this machine they are not determined.
  • Alternatives
Considered other methods non traditional, related to the nature medicine and others.

With this treatment, the period of time to heal is not determined, and it is not a 100% effective.

The pros of these treatments are that you can be cured without risk, except for the surgery. The cons of these treatments, are the long indeterminate periods of application.

4.- What are the real possibilities of recovery if using this type of medicine?

As I said in the previous question, some treatments provide the possibility to heal this illness.

The real possibilities of recovery using the treatments presented in the previous question, with some of them are minimal, but with others you can solve the problem very fast .

Only the mechanical support can prove you to prevent the snoring, but the problem is that you have to use to sleep a lifetime. The surgery can also heal you, but it is risky, with the other treatments the possibilities to heal are minimal.

5.- What type of remedies can a patient take?

There exist several remedies, according to the specific origin of the illness and of his grade of complexity.

Between the more used in present, are those from no invasive type and without contraindications, being the most use the anti - snoring clip. This device is a pin made of silicon, very soft, that is placed in the  nasal partition in the moment of sleep. It regulates the entrance of air to inhale and exhale, improving the breathing and decreasing the risks of apnea, they have two magnetic terminals that stimulate the jitters of partition stating the muscles across the respiratory pathways.

6.- What are the costs involved?

The costs are going to vary depending on the treatment that the doctor recommends to the person that suffers from snoring.

A session to the doctor can vary in the doctor the person goes to, but in general can cost like US 80 dollars. This, plus the exam named polysomnography, serves to detect the best treatment to choose. The cost is about US 120 dollars.

The rest varies in the treatment that the doctor assigned to the person. That can be more expensive.

7.- Do health programs in Chile cover this treatment expenses? How about health programs of the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia or any European country? (you can refer only one)

Snoring is an illness quite common in Chile. Because of this in Chile and in other countries there exist programs that cover the treatment to heal, in the public part as private, through their pension system  in health, which are the ISAPRES in the private part and FONASA in the public part. However, users commonly must perform a complementary payment to cover the total part of the treatment, particularly in case of drugs and the attention of doctors. Also, there exists the possibility that the person who suffers from the illness finds professional help without using the provisional systems if not paid the service directly in a particular way.

In other countries this and other illnesses are treated of integral ways by the public system. As an example of this we have the case of the European countries, especially the Nordic countries, as an example Norway. In that country the sick citizens have a guaranteed attention and treatment without a direct payment to the health institution, which is completely deducted from taxes.

8.- Refer to one real testimony to support your findings. Include as much information as possible.

For this question we made an interview to one real testimony to support my findings.

1.- How did you realize the problem?

I realized the problem because I made a sound when I slept and during the day I was sleepy, because of this I opted for medical help.

2.- What says the doctor that you have to do?

The doctor said to me that I have to have a medical check at the "Hospital del sueño" for them to study my case.

3.- What exams did they take?

The exam that they took to me was an a electroencephalogram and a sleep control.

4.- What treatments were recommended and what was their cost?

The treatment that I have to follow is the used of the CPAP, the costs of that is US 120 dollars, plus the medical sessions.

5.- Do you suffer sometimes from "sleep apnea", and what do you feel?

Yes, I suffer from "sleep apnea", but I don´t feel it because I was given mild "sleep apnea".

6.- In your case, do you know the causes that provoke the snoring?

Yes, because the respiratory structures in the pharyngeal tube crashed and emit the snoring.

Conventional and Alternative medicine (essay)

¿Alternative or traditional?

First for me conventional medicine is best than alternative this two types of medicine are so diferent and has a difernet type of doctors.

Alternative for my is bad and not serves, some peoples think that it serves, and used, but for other person is horrible say that in Brasil are some doctor of this medicine and pay for him to help and cured.
And the alternative is like in secrecy not in hospitals and have a contact to go to that consultations that are in houses.
And here the doctors have magic waters and some leaves that think that it is good for your helthy, dosen’t have machines.

The other medicine that are tradicional, the doctor say that are so many types of cured  for example  remedies like pills or antibiotics and syrups.
Other example are that the conventional medicine are in hospitals or consultations. And in internet have the direction and all the contact to go to the hospital.
In this medicine are machines to scann and take radeografy of your body or put plaster, bandages.

Finaly we will conclution that are so many types of medicine and mostly use are traditional
